EU Project First

The research project FIRST aims to extract relevant financial
information from the vast amounts of unstructured data present on the internet to support financial decision making. The aim is to improve existing methods, where necessary provide new methods for semantic information extraction, integration, and decision support. This when applied to financial domain, the entire financial information space can be explored and made use of dynamically, i.e, at near real-time.

b-next is part of an 9-member consortium for this project together with one of the most well known universities that researches in the field of financial markets. The consortium has contributors from Germany, Spain, Italy, and Slovenia. Started in October 2010, the project will last for three years.

Working on the Market Surveillance use case, b-next will contribute in exploiting the end-user prototypes extending the financial market information system. The results will be evaluated by its real end users, customers, and members of the FIRST Advisory Board.

b-next's research and development team is always on the fore-front to develop new and better techniques for detecting abusive behaviour in the market. As the project draws to an end, the results will help financial decision makers reach more well-grounded and confident conclusions.
